Acorn pie...

Caroline has this crazy desire to collect anything and everything she can find.... that being said, she found a ton of acorns at the park and somehow managed to bring them home. All she wanted to do was make acorn pie.. most of the acorns had holes in them, or were yucky in some way. We had a couple pie crusts leftover from Thanksgiving, and we had all the supplies for pecan pie. So daddy pulled the ole' switch-a-roo and went to "crack" the acorns, but came in with a bowl of pecans instead.. Caroline kind of caught on.. but still thought they were acorns. We made pie, baked them, and then pulled them out hot and fresh. We usually eat pecan pie cold, so with acorn pie, we eat it hot and put marshmellows on top... both kids dove right in! Even Nicholas who doesn't like pecan pie sure seemed to like his acorn pie... I feel a little guilty for pulling one over on them, but oh well! It's always nice having extra pie around :)
