Family Weekend

This last weekend, we got a suprise treat as a family! The Army has a program called "strong bonds" that provides weekend retreats for families, couples, singles, etc. This weekend, Joe and I and the kids got to participate in a family weekend that also focused on marriages. We had looked into it a while ago, but the chaplin never got back to us. He called Joe Friday morning at work and asked if we were all set to go.... ummm, no one ever got back to us! But, we were already signed up, so I spent the afternoon packing and we took off Friday evening and drove up to Ruidoso, NM and Inn of the Mountain Gods. It was such a treat and really blessed us as a family and a couple. The kids got to play and make new friends while Joe and I spent time learning with 18 other couples. The hotel was nice and the kids enjoyed playing in the pool and hot tub. On Sunday, we stayed in the area and went to a lake to go fishing with another family that we met. The kids had SO much fun and didn't want to leave. Joe was the only one to actually catch a fish, but the other fishermen and kids had mercy on us and we came home with 2 fish per family. It was hard to wake-up this weekend and face reality. But we are so thankful and greatful that the Army gave us this weekend away.... now, off to face all the laundry! Grumpy baby!! Oh that face!!!! Joe and Nicholas enjoying the hot tub The fountain in front of the hotel... it was so nice to see mountains and trees! Kind of reminded me of being in the NW. I'm sure we'll go back to this hotel again! The lake about 15 yards from our hotel room Grindstone Lake... One happy little fisher-girl! Molly and her new friend Elijah. She would not leave his side the entire afternoon. They both enjoyed playing on the edge of the lake and building little pools with the rocks for their "baby fish" A happy little fisher-boy! If only we could have caught a fish!!!! Caroline, Elijah, and Nicholas, holding the first fish that the nice fisherman gave them.

March 2011 ~ the first half

Molly and her little friend from school, Josiah. They were celebrating Dr. Seuss week at school and came home looking like little cats. These two are adorable together and sadly, Josiah's family is moving to South Carolina in June :(

SPRING BREAK!!!!!! Spring Break is early here and thankfully Joe had a 3 day weekend (we are taking too much leave over the next few months so we didn't plan a big trip) and we decided to enjoy our timeshare and head up to Tucson for 3 days. The weather couldn't have been better and the kids got to spend plenty of time in the pool!

Nicholas with his new pool toys :)

Molly was right at home swimming with her little wings....

We even brought Grandma along with us! We took the kids to the Tucson zoo one morning and enjoyed walking around and seeing the animals :)

More pool time! Nicholas doing cannonballs! This kid is a FISH! He had so much fun swimming and diving for toys. It was really hard to say goodbye to the pool!!!

Daddy and his girls!

Yep, it's a Mohawk!!! Nicholas desparately needed a haircut and since it was spring break we let him have a mohawk... (it will be disappearing on Sunday before he goes back to school). He has been loving it! And it fits his personality perfectly right now :)

Some friday night fun! We have a little baby bbq and joe wanted to have a "mini-campout". So the kids got to roast some marshmellows and then spent the night in their sleeping bags on the floor of the living room :)

YUM!!!

Roasted to perfection!!! Nana would be proud!!!

February 2011

The revolving door, keeps turning. Nana left, and two weeks later, Courtney and the Twins arrived. It has been so nice having visitors!!!!!

The twins, Madi and Emma, didn't waste anytime going outside to play! The sun has been shining everyday and we were out and about in our pajama's as soon as we could be!

Courtney was nice enough to watch our 3 crazies while I went to Las Vegas with my dad for a trade show... She was one brave girl with 5 kids... 3 of them 3 year olds! Molly had so much fun hanigng out with her cousins everyday and was really sad to see them go. Here's hoping that we can make it back to WA this summer to spend some time with them!!!

January 2011

January.... where to begin! It was another crazy month, but not quite as crazy as December. We came back from WA on the 4th and waited for our household goods to arrive. Joe was busy getting signed in on post and fortunately that meant that he was around a lot at home still and could help with the unpacking and getting settled. The kids all got started in their new schools as well. Caroline started first grade at Lundy Elementary and Nicholas soon joined her there in Kindergarten. Molly started preschool and quickly made new friends and settled right in. By the middle of the month, my Mom and Dad came down for a visit. It was timed perfectly for my mom's birthday and fun for all of us to celebrate with her!
