Labor Day Weekend at the Beach....
We were so lucky this weekend that Joe had 4 days off! As soon I found out, I booked us a spot at Mrytle Beach. We loaded up the car Saturday morning and off we went. The weather could have been a little better, but it was so nice as a family to get away and enjoy time with Joe. The kids had a great time. Here are all the pics to prove it ;)
The one and only pic of me... we had dinner in our room and then took the kids for a walk and went out for ice cream...

Somehow Caroline has ended up with two ice-cream cones... hmmm....

Maybe you just have to know Molly and her personality, but when Joe and I reviewed the pics from the trip, we couldn't stop laughing at this one. She is a total goofball and we thought it was cute....

Here's a little better one...

Me and my daddy!

One of Caroline's other favorite activites is stealing my camera and taking pictures....

Her self-photo...

The resort we were at had 3 outdoor pools, two indoor pools, two lazy rivers, and a couple hot tubs... the kids loved the lazy river!

Having fun floating.....

Our little Monkey......

And Nicholas' favorite place to be... in the ocean!

He just loved to roll around in the waves...

Molly was really unsure of the sand. She really did not want me to set her down. I was able to get her to sit down finally and she would not get up or move if something was out of her reach. By the last day she finally would walk on the sand if her shoes were on. The only way she would go in the water was if I was holding her and even then she wasn't too thrilled. But, she loved the pool and hot tub!

Me and my dad.... Nicholas has such a great time hanging out with his daddy. It was really cool to watch them having fun together.

talking about the ocean... maybe, or maybe they were talking about the Hammerhead shark that some guy saw swim right by them... aaahhh!!!!

One of the hot tubs.... It was nice and warm, especially once the wind hit.

The kids took a rest one afternoon and Joe said he was going to go study... This was how Caroline found him......

And back to the beach we go....

Caroline and Nicholas found an abandoned hole and had fun digging in the sand.

Miss Molly even joined in....

The resort we stayed at....

Nicholas had fun burying daddy...

Swimming in the indoor pool...

Our drive home took a couple hours longer than we had hoped. We got stuck in all of the holiday traffic... yuck! When we finally made it home the kids played for a little while and I cooked dinner. Once dinner was ready, Caroline asked if they could eat outside. She had this cute little table all set up and ready to go... I couldn't say no, and it was so easy to clean up when they were done :)

Surprise!
Tonight as Joe was driving home from work he gave me a call. We were having our "normal" little chat and he says "oh, there's a hot air balloon". We have seen them quite a bit around here but I really didn't think much of his comment. He came home, had dinner, was hanging with the kids and next thing he says is "come look out the window!" And here is what we saw!!!!!

The picture above really doesn't do what we saw justice... the perspective from our little camera is just a little bit off. The balloon was much larger than I expected it to be and quite the sight out our kitchen window!
Quite a few people from the neighborhood were either already or out, or quickly came out when they saw what was going on.

It was deflated pretty quickly and there was already a van to come and pick it up. What surprised me the most is how small the basket is. There were 3 people in it, and they were headed up to an empty parking lot about half a mile up the road from us, but the wind shifted and they landed on the other side of our fence.

Small basket!!!!

Charleston
The kids and I headed up to Charleston this weekend to go visit the Lipsey's. It was a quick trip but as always, totally worth it. We arrived around lunch on Saturday. The kids had time to play for a little while, Molly took a quick nap, and then we headed of to see the Charleston Riverdogs play August Greenjackets. It turned out to be a double header, and it was also a kids "give away" night. The kids all walked away with a new backpack adn a free book. John also scored some great tickets for us too. We got to sit right behind the Greenjackets relief pitchers. They were super friendly and nice to the kids. I'm hoping somehow we'll make it to a game here before their season is over, but there's only 3 or 4 more games left :(
We fit everyone in the Land Cruiser and took off to the game....

It was a little warm in the sun, but there was a nice cool breeze and we all had a great time.

MMM.... Cotton candy.....
