Boosterthon Fun Run

2.5 weeks into school and we have just experienced our first fundraiser. They certainly don't waste time down here. The PTO fundraiser to start the year off is/was a fun run. The kids are encouraged to get pledges for running laps. The whole program is about teaching characteristics and trying to get the kids involved. There was a little program every day at school and Caroline would come home all excited but when it was time to ask friends and family for pledges she would get super shy. But as you can see below, she didn't do too bad. She came home yesterday with a pack of prizes she won for getting a certain amount of pledges....

This morning was the big fun run. The lap is 1/16th of a mile and the kids are encouraged to run between 25 and 35 laps. This group was kindergarten and first grade. There were a handful of kids that hit 35. There was loud music and a most of the laps had some sort of "theme" that went along with the song, but, it was a group of kindergarteners that had NO clue, the just kept running.

If you look closely, you can see Caroline with her headband on in the group...

"Hi Mom!" this was close to the beginning.... she was smiling and still running.

Still smiling...

Not as big of a smile, and walking....

"Here mom, have some water".. cheeks are starting to get redder.

Caroline was getting too sweaty with her sweat band on... Molly showing them off.

More water, redder cheeks...

Off she goes...

Caroline did really well. She completed 24 laps. Molly and I got to do a few laps with her and walk her back to her classroom. It was super warm this morning and the kids are probably all asleep in their classroom now. I'm not sure if any of them will survive the day! Thanks to all our friends and family who supported her and her school!!!!! We'll owe you one when it's your turn :)
