Family Vacation

It's probably about time I posted some pictures from our little trip last week. Joe's mom left us on the 13th and we continued on up to Anacortes and took the ferry over to Orcas Island for 3 nights. The weather cooperated and it never rained on us! We stayed in Deer Harbor and had some nice relaxing family time.

Caroline enjoyed showing off her new bathing suit and cheesy smile. The pool was nice and warm. Caroline and Joe went swimming once and we were too busy taking naps the rest of the time to ever go back.


We took the inter-island ferry one morning over to Friday Harbor and spent some time walking around all the "touristy" shops. I think the highlight for Caroline was just playing on the ferry and getting to run around.

After a hike on the mountain we hiked down to the water. It was about half a mile down to Obstruction Pass and Caroline hiked the whole way. However, it was down... and on the way back she didn't want to walk... Daddy had quiet the workout. Anyway, we had fun down at the beach and we saw a TON of starfish. Purple, orange, and red and even a big dead crab. It was fun walking around on the big rocks.. (side note ~ when Joe and I started hanging out about 5 years ago, we brought his dad up to Orcas Island for the day with some other friends. This was the beach we came to.)


Later that day we decided to go find a place where my family would come when we were kids. It used to be called Captain Cook's. We got out there and there was barely any sign of the place we used to go, other than the dock and the rocks. Caroline and I went looking for baby crabs and she had fun throwing rocks in the water. She wasn't quite sure of the little crabs but had fun looking for them. Nicholas tried to grab them and wasn't afraid of them at all... typical boy! It was a great trip and we will definately be going back.

Nicholas' 1st Birthday!!!! Chpt. 1

(this was supposed to be posted yesterday.... but when I hit the button to post it, Blogger was down for the count.... so, here we go again!)
Good Morning Birthday Boy!!!!!!! I went in to his room this morning with the video camera and he popped up with his little swollen face!!! Off to the dr. we went again! He is still okay, but it's just spreading upwards and hopefully not for much longer. The rest of his body looks much better!!

Caroline was dressing herself this afternoon. She has on her panties over her diaper, a pair of shorts, and then Nicholas' sweats, and a turtleneck.. I really hope this isn't going to be a trend of dressing herself. I don't think I can handle it!


And were off..... here comes the cupcake. He had never had anything with chocolate before, and if he's anything like his big sis or his papa, this is only the beginning!!!!!!





Oh, I can't get enough... have to lick it off the plate!

Happy Birthday Nicholas Chpt. 2

Nana and Papa gave Nicholas a big red wagon and a blue dump-truck. They have both already been put to good use. Caroline had fun pulling Nicholas around. She kept telling him to sit down and sit still... She just loves being the big sis!!

Who needs a recliner when you have a dump truck?? Nicholas was just a little too comfortable sitting in the dump truck. But it was fun to watch him try to figure out how to stay in and not get "dumped out" if he sat too close to the edge...

Oh what a night!

Poor Nicholas is a mess... He has a HORRIBLE rash and we ended up going to the ER last night/early this morning. There really isn't much the Dr.'s could do for him other than give him Benadryl, Tylenol, and Motrin. He is MISERABLE!! The Dr's couldn't really figure out what exactly caused this, may have been the Amoxicillan like his pediatrician thought or could be a virus or who knows!!! Just when we think he's acting happier, his rash starts to look worse. Now to top it off Caroline has some little bug and is running a high temp...

Grandma made Caroline a tu-tu and one for her baby doll too..


Grandma also brought Caroline a headband.... she reminded me of a little 80's girl in her workout clothes.... She wouldn't let me fix it... She said it was "just right"......

June 5th

Finally.... This thing has been on the fritz all morning.... This weekend was the Maritime Gig Festival down in the harbor. We walked down on Saturday morning and took the kids to the parade. Nana joined us... Caroline had fun scurrying for the candy that the people in the parade would throw out and then eating it... she ate WAY too much candy and Joe got to be the lucky one who dealt with it after her nap....



After the parade we walked around for a little while and the firemen were selling bike helmets. Caroline got one for her bike rides with daddy.... She calls it her "helmet-hat".....


Saturday night the Gore's came over for dinner. Caroline is already acting like the "little mother" and tried to take care of Taylor all night. Taylor was a good sport and played along for a little while..... Caroline just didn't get the hint.

Grandma came into town last night. We had a good time hanging out with her. Caroline loves following her around and doing everything that she is doing.

Last night Caroline was trying to take her shoes off in the bathroom and slipped and caught her eye on her step stool.. The picture doesn't show it that well, but she has a little black and blue....


Nicholas had a rough week last week and had two ear infections... . and yesterday, Aunt Courtney and Chad thought he was getting the chicken pox... nope, he was having an allergic reaction to his anti-biotics. He woke up this morning and looked like he had been attacked by pink polka dots and his hands and feet were swollen. Poor little guy... hopefully he'll be healthy on thursday and saturday for his birthday party.....

Big Day!

Sorry no pictures... but quick update... Nicholas took his first steps today! It was just 2 little ones and then another one a few minutes later. Big day at our house... I'm not sure how I feel about it. My baby is growing up... When we get more batteries in the camera I'll post some more pictures....

Been a while.....

I know... It's been way too long! Sorry!!! Katie (Joe's half-sister) and her mom were here for the weekend. There are some pictures from us in the Harbor and up in Seattle. We played tourist and went to the Space Needle, Pike Place and then rode the ferry home. It was fun having them visit!

Nicholas has been fun pretending he is Mr. Potato Head. The pieces are a little small for his big head!
